Old hissy demo of song
re worked for fun and for Dad

he didn't know what to say
he even had to turn away
but when the words came out
this is what I heard

when I go take my violin
and play a song for me
when I go take my violin
and play one just for me

what would I do with a violin
I don't know how to play a thing
but I thanked him anyway
what else was I to say

he said it wasn't worth a dime
I said I hope it's never mine
he shrugged his head
turned to me and said

yeah but when I go take my violin
and play a song for me
when I go take my violin
and play one just for me

what should I play
just make it a melody
make it as sweet
sweet as you and me

he didn't know what to say
he even had to turn away
but when the words came out
my father said to me

when I go take my violin
and play me a melody
when I go take my violin
and play one just for me

My best man at our wedding in 1997

Robert Malcolm Sheppard, Sr. married Gladys Pearl Fulmer (Rusty Sheppard)
whose four children were Robert Malcolm Jr., Edward LeRoy, John Charles, and Kelly Lu.
Le Sheppard married Mary Jane Tettemer having Margaret Pearl Sheppard - Maggie P.

Growing up, there was always music in the air around the holidays
(and all year round) being surrounded by talented artists and musicians.
Whether at Granny Fulmer's - or in our Sheppard home back on the farm -
or up at Uncle John and Aunt Skip's - someone was always playing the piano
(Uncle John, Dad, or one of us). Sure there was plenty of singing hymns and songs
and harmonizing gathered around the piano - and at times there was even a
string ensemble - but the best for me was hearing Pop on the piano alone
and playing for himself - simple and heartfelt (my Father's and his brother's
musical and artistic legacy). This music reminds me of those times LINK\

"This is the one form of government where the residents who are being represented

"More than any time in recent history, America's destiny is not of our own choosing.
We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life.
We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of
a
people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive -
The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have
measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we'
re reminded that that
capacity may well be limitless. This is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard.
We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars"
Aaron Sorkin, West Wing ("20 Hours in America": I & II; aired September 25, 2002)
